General Program Overview
The Calavera Coyotes Boys Basketball program is a competitive team with a focus on skill development, sportsmanship, and leadership. Players are selected based on tryouts, and participation in both practices and games is mandatory.
Registration and Fees
How do I register my child?
Registration is completed online through the BGCC Athletics website. After tryouts, you'll receive a registration link if your child makes the team.What is the cost?
The fee covers uniforms, league fees, equipment, referees, and coaches. This must be paid before the first practice.Financial Assistance
Financial aid and payment plans are available for qualifying families. Visit the financial aid tab on the BGCC website to apply for scholarships. Apply early to ensure timely processing.
Tryouts
When and where are tryouts?
Tryouts will be held at the Calavera Hills Middle School Gym on December 2nd.Tryout Times by Grade:
6th Grade: 2:45 PM - 4:15 PM
7th Grade: 4:25 PM - 5:55 PM
8th Grade: 6:05 PM - 7:35 PM
What should my child bring to tryouts?
Players must bring water, wear basketball shoes, and arrive ready to compete. Upon arrival, players will check in and receive a number.How are teams selected?
Players are evaluated on skills, effort, and attitude. Team selections will be emailed shortly after tryouts. Not all players will make a team due to space limitations.
Team Structure
Teams:
Gold Team: Open to all grades
Silver Team: 6th and 7th graders only
Blue Team: Open to all grades
Yellow Team: Open to all grades
Team Size:
Each team is capped at 10 players to ensure sufficient practice time and playing opportunities.
Practice Schedule
Practice Locations: Practices for all teams are held at the Calavera Hills Middle School Gym.
Gold Team Practice:
Monday-Wednesday: 2:45 PM - 4:15 PM
Thursday: 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM
Silver Team Practice:
Monday-Wednesday: 2:45 PM - 4:15 PM
Thursday: 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM
Blue & Yellow Team Practices:
Monday-Wednesday: 4:15 PM - 5:45 PM
Thursday: 3:15 PM - 4:45 PM
Attendance:
Attendance is crucial for team success. Players should prioritize attending practices and games, though we understand there may be conflicts. Consistent absences may affect playing time.
Game Schedule
When are games?
Games take place on Mondays and Thursdays, replacing practice on those days. The official schedule will be distributed by January 6th.Where are games?
Home games are at the Calavera Hills Gym. Away games will be at various locations, and parents are responsible for transportation. Carpooling is encouraged if needed.Game Times:

Uniforms
What is provided?
Players receive a uniform, including a jersey and shorts. Players are responsible for keeping the uniform in good condition throughout the season.What if my child loses their uniform?
Lost or damaged uniforms must be replaced by the family. The cost will be provided by the club.
Parent Responsibilities

Parents are encouraged to volunteer for tasks like scorekeeping, carpooling, and organizing post-game snacks. If interested, please indicate your willingness during registration.
Code of Conduct
Players:
Players are expected to show respect to their coaches, teammates, and opponents. Good sportsmanship is a priority, and poor behavior may result in disciplinary actions.Parents:
We ask parents to model good behavior by positively supporting the team and respecting referees and coaches. Any violations may result in removal from the program.
Health & Safety
Medical Clearance:
Please notify the coaches of any allergies, injuries, or conditions your child has. This will help them tailor activities accordingly.Sick Policy:
Players should stay home if sick or recovering from illness. If your child misses school due to illness, they should not attend practice or games.
Travel
How will transportation be handled?
Parents are responsible for getting their children to away games. If you need help coordinating rides, let the club know, and they can help facilitate carpooling.
Refund Policy
What is the refund policy?
No refunds will be given after the first week of the season. Partial refunds may be available if a player withdraws within the first week.
Tentative Dates and Times
Are schedules finalized?
All schedules are tentative and subject to change depending on gym availability and other factors. We’ll notify parents as soon as possible of any changes via TeamSnap or email.
Emergency Protocols
What happens in an emergency?
In the event of an emergency, the coaching staff will administer first aid and call 911 if needed. Parents will be contacted immediately.
Equipment Requirements
What equipment is required?
Players should wear proper basketball shoes and bring a water bottle to practices and games.
Tournaments and Post-Season Play
Are there post-season events?
Teams may have the opportunity to participate in tournaments depending on performance. More details will be provided during the season.
Photography and Media Release
Can I take photos at games?
Yes, parents can take photos of their child during games, but please avoid distracting players or coaches.Will team photos be taken?
